Ventilation of the roof made in a tight cover, which is a seam.

The main task of the complete roof sheathing is to protect it against the penetration of moisture into the interior of the building, coming from precipitation. However, even with the most careful assembly or high-quality materials used, our roof, including the attic, is exposed to moisture getting into the partition. The danger of dampness comes from the inside of the building as well as from the condensation process.

Moisture is a threat to all materials in individual layers of the roof

This is especially noticeable in our climate, where the formation of water vapor is inevitable. You have to be aware that, in principle, condensation in the roof is formed all year round. Therefore, we need to create the right conditions so that they have a chance to evaporate. Moisture (condensation) poses a threat to all materials in individual layers of the roof. After a long time of moisture accumulation, thermal insulation or structural elements of the roof are soaked. As a consequence, it deteriorates the insulation parameters of the building or weakens the structure, which may cause damage or deformation of the flat surfaces of the roof sheathing.

Ventilation in the roof seam

Products with system-solved properties that support air flow include modular or hybrid system metal roof tiles. In this type of products, due to the raised profile geometry and functional solutions, they have an increased tendency to exchange air.

However, there is a group of seam sheets that requires very careful ventilation due to the high level of hydro and wind tightness.

How to protect the roof from moisture?

The basic way to remove excess moisture from our roof is to ventilate a tightly closed roof.

A ventilated roof is a structure which, under the sheathing, contains an internal space designed for this purpose (ventilated space) intended for the free flow of atmospheric air, which dries the thermal insulation, structure and the bottom part of the sheet, e.g. with the soundproofing Soundcontrol mat appliedwhich reduces the sound of falling onto the sheet rain by 6 dB. The Bratex Dachy offer also includes DRIPSTOP anti-condensation fleece retaining moisture from settling water vapor - application for uninsulated buildings. We apply the interlining automatically during the production process, sticking it to the underside of the sheet between the side bleeds - innovatively at a distance of 15 cm from the edge of the factory fold and on any type of surface finish.

Regardless of the shape and size of the roof, the ventilation space must meet the basic condition - have an inlet and outlet for this air.

However, this space must be covered from the nesting of birds, insects, or the troublesome problem that is currently the marten.

Therefore, it is necessary to use systemic special perforated ventilation slats. Each of these covers, depending on the shape of the profile, has specific proportions of the airy surface, perfectly fitted to protect against rodents, openings that facilitate assembly, giving an ideal location and selected perforation to ensure the required air flow.
