Smart Lock Delta Slide Seam Installation Basics

In this continuation of our series on innovative roofing solutions, we will take a closer look at the installation process of the panels. Smart Lock Delta on a straight slope. Grzegorz Zięba, technical advisor at Bratex Dachy, points out the key principles that guarantee the tightness and aesthetics of the roof.

Preparation of sheets and ridge

In this video, we start the assembly from a corner, and the first step is to precisely determine the angle of the sheet cut. The fundamental rule is to leave 2-3 cm of sheet metal allowance, which needs to be rewound. This finish serves three functions:

  • Stabilizes the surface under the ridge flashing.
  • Allows for secure attachment of the ridge strip.
  • At low roof pitches, it effectively prevents water from being pushed in by the wind.

Eaves aesthetics and angle correction

Although it is standard to wrap the sheets on the eaves flashing, to achieve the highest aesthetic standard when installing the flat version of Smart Lock Delta it is recommended to use F22 system hook flashing lying on the eaves strip.

For the profiled version we have F111 eaves finishing strip into which we insert the seam sheets. The strip has thoughtful holes and perforations that protect the sheet edge and allow for effective drainage of rainwater and dirt.

An additional advantage of the sliding system is the ability to make minor adjustments to the roof geometry. If the roof angles are not ideal, the installer can adjust the alignment by slightly shifting the mounting strip.

Thermal work and mounting

Smart Lock Delta panels feature a mounting strip with bean-shaped holes. Their unique shape and 25mm length allow for the free thermal conductivity of up to 12-meter sheets.

  • Screw installation principle: The screws should be placed exactly in the center of the bean.
  • Tightening force: The screws must not be tightened completely – the sheet must have some slack so that it can move freely during temperature changes.

Panel joining technique

Extreme caution should be exercised when sliding the sheets together. Controlling the force applied is crucial, and avoiding pulling the sheet against the mounting strip itself. Improper technique can lead to deformation of the cover lock, resulting in unsightly "rounding" of the subsequent panels.
