Fashion for modularity?

Architecture is one of the most important components of any place. Appropriate design and material selection can have a significant impact on the overall appearance and style of a building, as well as its durability and functionality. In recent years, there has been an increase in interest in new trends in architecture, especially in the field of solutions that use modular technologies.

When we talk about construction, one of the hottest trends lately is the construction of modular houses. Prefabricated elements are ready-made building elements that are designed, manufactured and sold by the manufacturer. More and more people are choosing to build a prefabricated house because it offers many advantages over traditional house building methods. Building a prefabricated house is faster and more effective than traditional house construction. Most prefab homes can be constructed in a matter of weeks or even months, significantly reducing the time it takes to build a home traditionally. In addition, building elements are produced in production plants that are equipped with appropriate tools and machinery, as well as established procedures and techniques, thanks to which they are manufactured in accordance with defined standards. The situation is similar with the production of modular metal roofing tiles. What are the differences and advantages of this type of products?

Modular roof

The history of metal roofing tiles offered in small sheets has been going on for over 25 years. Initially, these were products manufactured in Scandinavia, with features that facilitate folding of the four corners, where four thicknesses of sheet metal are layered. Unfortunately, at that time in Poland, metal roofing tiles were a novelty and in the face of trapezoidal sheets, which were offered in fixed dimensions in the early 90s, metal roofing tiles reflected the needs of every customer and roofer - one dimension for the full length of the rafters. Custom-made metal roofing tiles were produced up to 9 meters long, which made transport and carrying the product to the roof much more difficult. However, the most frequently offered solution for long roofs were two sheets 3 - 5 meters long, connected crosswise.

Although every compact metal roofing tile offered on the market today is called a modular metal roofing tile, not all of them have the features of a product that can be called modular. The sheet metal tile has the right to be called modular not because it is available in short sheets, but because each sheet is an element of the system, an element of the puzzle with specific assumptions, features and requirements.

A real modular metal roof tile solves the known inconveniences and disadvantages of ordinary metal roof tiles cut to length. Sheets of a real modular roof tile must have special embossing, endings, embossing and other features that allow it to be considered as a system element, i.e. the proverbial puzzle where one element fits perfectly with another, nothing sticks out and everything fits evenly.

Openness to new solutions has accompanied Bratex Dachy Mrzygłód from the very beginning of the company's existence. Already in 1996, they started cooperation with a leading producer of high-strength steel. The Scandinavian concern SSAB is a strategic supplier of lacquered sheets based on biotechnology for the Bratex brand. The materials provided by SSAB allow for lighter roofing products while maintaining their highest durability.

Bratex Dachy Mrzygłód introduced the first modular metal roofing tiles in 2015. It was during this period that they created the definition of modular metal roofing tiles, which explained why the product was modular. They have conducted hundreds of training sessions and trained thousands of people, providing knowledge and arguments about the superiority of real modular metal roofing tiles over conventional ones, i.e. those cut to size. The company has created a concept of products with special technical, aesthetic and functional features that make them true modular metal roofing tiles. Modular metal roofing tile sheets are connected in a precisely defined way, guaranteeing a true modular roof.

A novelty on the market - a hybrid metal roof tile

With the development of the Bratex product range, it was introduced for sale in 2019 hybrid metal roof tile, which is offered in compact sheets and in sizes up to four meters long. Hybrid metal roofing tiles combine the features of modular metal roofing tiles, i.e. they have features that influence the correct assembly of the sheets, which are part of the system, i.e. the puzzle. Hybrid metal roofing tiles can also be cut to any size, without any unattainable ranges, with an accuracy of one millimeter.

Due to the fact that hybrid metal roofing tiles are an extension of the possibilities offered by modular metal roofing tiles, the company has created a definition of "system metal roofing tiles", which include:

  • system modular roof tiles
  • system hybrid metal roof tiles

Thus, "system roof tiles" are the so-called product umbrella over modular and hybrid ones.

Bratex products are available in a wide range of colors and material variants, so they can be adapted to the color of the building's facade. Thanks to cooperation with the renowned Scandinavian manufacturer of painted sheets, SSAB, products with quality standards exceeding European standards are created. The sheets are protected with a special zinc layer weighing 350 grams per m², which is as much as 27% better protection compared to traditional solutions. Thanks to this, the manufacturer offers the longest warranty on the market - up to 75 years of functionality and 35 years of color retention. The original palette of ten completely new colors, the Ceramic Matt Pro BT coating, which is available only in the offer of the Bratex brand (Residential Buildings Design Colors), is becoming more and more popular. The top material variants are coatings based on BT (Bio-based Technology). It poses a lower burden on the natural environment by eliminating the release of harmful substances into the air. In the final varnish coating, a large part of the petroleum compounds was replaced with the methyl ester of Swedish rapeseed oil. Bratex Dachy system metal roofing tiles are innovative products that provide all the required features and benefits. They are easy to install and transport, durable and aesthetic. They are an ideal solution that will ensure durability and aesthetics for many years.
