Which tile is the best?

Metal roofing tiles appeared on the Polish market in the 90s. Sheets of metal roofing tiles are made of varnished sheet metal in a circle. The material is steel with a thickness of min. 0,5mm or aluminum 0,6mm. The sheet consists of several layers, the main ones being a steel or aluminum core, zinc protection for steel sheets and decorative varnish. The types of varnish determine the durability of the sheet, how the product looks and the length of the warranty. Durability is primarily determined by the mass (amount) of zinc on the steel core. The standard is 275 grams per square meter, both sides combined, i.e. 137,5 grams per square meter of top and bottom sheet. Selected Bratex products are offered with an above-standard amount of zinc, as much as 350 grams per square meter, followed by a 75-year functional guarantee, which is the longest guarantee on the Polish market.

Which tile is the most popular?

The most popular metal roofing tile is a conventional, i.e. a regular metal roofing tile cut to the desired length. The new generation of metal roof tiles are Bratex system metal roof tiles, which are divided into:

• system modular roof tiles;
• system hybrid metal roof tiles.

Conventional roof tiles dominate the market because customers are not properly informed at distribution points. Conventional steel tiles, three types of which are still available in Bratex's offer (Allano, Platino, Vello), are a low-tech, old-generation product.

Conventional roof tiles have disadvantages that any experienced contractor will confirm:

• the shape of the sheet causes it to fall, i.e. each subsequent sheet applied from the same line slides down by at least the thickness of the sheet;
• the transverse connection, i.e. along the length, is visible and is a place where rainwater with impurities collects, often from the chimney;
• 5-8m long sheets are difficult to stretch to a height and are often stretched, broken and scratched;
• adjustable length of the sheet by changing the length of the tongue (the last part of the sheet) will cause aesthetic and assembly problems when processing the ridge, i.e. ridge tile.

An alternative to cut-to-size metal roof tiles

The solution to the problems of conventional metal roof tiles resulting from their simple construction are the Bratex system metal roof tiles. • the sheet is an element of the system;
• the sheet is a module of the whole puzzle;
• the sheet has special features that solve the problems of joining sheets;
• the sheet has solutions ensuring durability;
• the sheet has assembly facilities;
• a sheet bought later is still the same color;
• everything is delivered on a professionally packed pallet.

Bratex hybrid roof tiles

Hybrid roof tiles are an innovation of Bratex Dachy Mrzygłód from 2019. They are a development of modular metal roofing tiles, not so much in technical terms as in terms of availability. Hybrid roof tiles are also a system product, they have the same technical solutions as modular roof tiles. The main difference is that Hybrid metal roof tiles are produced in two models:

• sheet model, which is the same as modular metal roof tiles;
• model to size, i.e. with the possibility of adjusting the length of the sheet to 4 meters.

Hybrid metal roof tiles are packed on standard wooden pallets, those in the sheet model with an additional plank pallet stabilizing the load.
