Cut-to-size or modular metal tile?

Over the last few years, the popularity of metal roofing has been steadily growing, which is primarily the result of the constantly improved quality of this type of solution. This allows you to create exceptionally aesthetic and durable roofing at a reasonable price. The use of the latest technologies, great parameters, a wide range of technical possibilities, as well as a wealth of variants and an extensive color palette make metal roof tiles a solution that can be used in virtually any architectural style. The only question left is which option to choose – cut-to-size or modular metal roof tiles?

Tin roofing is the most common choice both for newly built houses and when replacing roofs in existing buildings, including historic buildings. The low weight of this product does not entail the need to strengthen the roof truss, thanks to which the costs of such an investment are not additionally increased (1 m2 of metal roofing weighs about 4 kg).

Cut-to-size metal sheet tiles - a classic of pure form tailored to your needs

Cut-to-size metal roof tiles are products in the form of long, even several-meter sheets, which can be ordered in a length corresponding to the size of a specific roof, while their width is constant.

Cut-to-size sheet is an ideal solution for uncomplicated, single or gable roofs, without dormers and other complex elements. To calculate the length and the amount of material needed, specialized computer programs are used at the disposal of Bratex Dachy Mrzygłód. Thanks to such advanced IT solutions, everything is precisely calculated and material losses are kept to a minimum. Large elements, properly matched to the dimensions of the roof slope, allow roofing works to be carried out extremely quickly, which also translates into lower final costs of the entire investment.

Having knowledge about the specific dimensions of the roof slope also gives you the opportunity to more precisely calculate in terms of demand, calculate plants and estimate potential costs. In the case of metal roof tiles in sheets, which are to be installed on a more complex roof, it should be taken into account that quite a large amount of cutting waste will be generated when laying the roof slope. On the other hand, the modular metal roof tile is able to reduce the generation of unused waste to such an extent that in the end, despite its higher price, the final material costs remain very similar. They even out even more, the greater the level of complexity of the construction of a given roof slope.

Bratex Allano

The Bratex Allano metal roof tile is a perfect example of pure form. Its appearance refers to traditional ceramic tiles, but it is much easier to install, lighter and less expensive. The Bratex Allano metal roof tile is up to 20 times lighter than other roof solutions and does not require special reinforcement of the structure, full boarding and stronger walls with foundations.

Bratex Platino

Bratex Platino is a classic elegance that looks great on any roof. Its appearance refers to traditional ceramic roof tiles, but it offers easier installation, is also lighter and less expensive. The Bratex Platino metal roof tile is available in two variants. The standard model has a length of 350 mm, a profile height of 23 mm and a rib height of 20 mm. The model in the economic version - Platino Eco - has a length of 400 mm, a profile height of 23 mm, and a ribbing height of 16 mm.

Bratex Vello

The Bratex Vello conventional metal roof tile represents a timeless, classic style of roofing. It has an embossing raised to 25 mm and a groove every other wave, which perfectly imitates a concrete roof tile. A wide range of products is available, including several dozen colors and coatings in various material conditions.

Bratex Allano, Platino and Vello metal roof tiles on the underside can be optionally equipped with DRIPSTOP anti-condensation fleece, which retains moisture from settling water vapour. This is a perfect solution, especially in the case of non-insulated buildings.

Modular metal roof tiles - tomorrow's technology

Metal tiles in the form of ready-made modules are small-size metal sheets, equipped with additional technical solutions that allow for their faster and more precise installation on the roof.

In the case of covering a more complex roof slope, it is possible to properly cut the module during the work. The modules are offered in packages on pallets. A standard Euro pallet usually holds enough metal roof tiles to cover a medium-sized roof. Importantly, both its transport and unloading are extremely easy, so there is no need to organize specialized transport. Modular metal roofing sheets are also much easier to transfer to the roof surface, as well as simpler to install, because roofing work can be started immediately, without the need to disassemble and adjust individual roofing elements.

Which tile should you choose then?

While in the case of large-sized sheets of cut-to-size metal roof tiles, a fairly large team of roofers is required to work with them, only two people are enough to carry out assembly activities with modular metal roof tiles. The small size of this product guarantees higher resistance to stresses that may occur on the laid roofing. Modular roof tiles are an excellent choice for more complex, multi-pitched roofs with more bends, but they will also work well on simple roofs.

In the event of underestimation of the amount of material or unforeseen damage to the modular metal roofing tile during the work, it is possible to purchase a single sheet of metal roofing tile instead of the entire product range.

Bratex Dachy Mrzygłód's modular technology is a response to the requirements of the modern market, which is constantly looking for the best roofing solutions. Modular products are dedicated primarily to complex roof solutions, enabling the implementation of even the most unusual projects. Each model of the modular metal roof tile has the same dimensions. Therefore, there is no need to make complicated calculations to calculate the amount of material needed. In the case of modular products, fairly accurate data on the size of the coverage area is sufficient. An example of a Bratex modular roofing sheet is the Aurora, Savanna and Scandinavia models.

Bratex Aurora

The Bratex Aurora metal roof tile perfectly imitates heavy roofing with its appearance. Like the Bratex Scandinavia modular metal roof tile, it is easy to transport and assemble, and has all the technical, aesthetic and functional features that guarantee a real modular roof.

Bratex Savanna

The Bratex Savanna modular metal roof tile is a roof covering with a completely flat surface style. This is the response of the Bratex brand to the growing trend of clean and simple forms that perfectly match the modern architecture of residential buildings. Due to the low profile and flat shape of this metal roof tile, it is recommended to use a heat-weldable roofing felt or a membrane with glued overlaps in the cross-section of the substructure.

Bratex Scandinavia

The Scandinavia modular roof tile is a special product that combines the best of modular technology, i.e. classic aesthetics with modern technological solutions for steel roofing. Thanks to the modular structure and the lightness of the material, Bratex Scandinavia is perfect as a roofing material, even with a minimum roof pitch of 12 degrees.

Which metal roof tile to choose - custom-made or modular?

The most important factor to take into account when choosing between modular and cut-to-size metal roofing tiles is the specificity of the roof structure. A roof with a simple structure is easiest to cover with continuous, large-sized elements, which will reduce material losses, and the roofing works themselves will be carried out quickly and efficiently. In turn, the small size of modular metal roofing tiles is perfect for multi-slope, mansard and dormer roofs.

Regardless of the differences resulting from transport and handling of larger or smaller roofing elements, both types of products offer the same properties in terms of durability, aesthetics and resistance to weather conditions. In addition to the roof structure itself, the choice of a cut-to-size or modular metal tile depends mainly on the individual preferences and expectations of the investor.
